This sounds like mods . Amethyst in the end and tools and armor make more sense.

Maybe it could be used in an enchantment table instead of lapis lazuli to receive better enchantments?

    ADD WANDS ✨💥🚫🚫🚫
You have to allow the crystals to also be used in a new crafting table for wands. Allow us to enchant them with specific spell books and cast spells and we can use certain materials as wand cores.

Imagine an enchanted amethyst crystal or gem ina
A wood type stick thats coated in a special metal or stone like powder similar to redstone or lapiz.

This is nice, since gems are being added in the next update. Maybe jewelry can be found as rare loot too in archeology sites.

This would be a great use for copper too. Gemstones (amethyst, diamond, emerald, lapis) set in copper housings that can be enchanted for a lower cost than armor. They should take up the same armor slots so their is a trade off to have higher defense or enchantments. Basically more protection from the environment, or more protection from mobs.
