Magic is something that the community has been asking for to be added to minecraft for a long time. That's why I want to share my idea on how to add a magic system to minecraft in a way that feels like it fits the game. I think a great way to implement a magic system would be by expanding on an already existing game mechanic rather than by adding a fully new system for magic. If done right, the magic system could feel very natural in the world of minecraft. My idea is to expand the XP system to resemble a magic system. The XP system would fit for this well because it has been in the game for a long time and it is already used for enchanting, which could be considered magic related. I'm not saying that the XP system should be redone, I just think that a few small changes and additions could make a very interesting "magic" system.
Here are a few ideas on how experience could be expanded:
New weapons and items that would drain the user's XP as a fuel. These items could be quite powerful but on the other hand the player would have to limit when they use these items.
New crafting station that would allow the player to store their XP and use it later. If the player dies, they won't lose the XP but also they won't be able to use it instantly in combat either.
Also I'd love to hear how other people feel about this concept and what ideas you have to further expand this idea
