Thatch material and tikis! New event?

I was thinking that it would be cool to have a new use for bamboo-- making a new material called thatch. Thatch would be crafted using bamboo and string. While it can be used in crafting, it can also be used by itself on trapdoors to hold them in place. Many people use trapdoors as dividers or simply covers for parts of room- so it would be nice if we could have them locked so we don't accidentally expose what we meant to cover up. 
I mentioned earlier that this should also be able to be used in crafting. I think that it would be cool to have a bamboo wall! You could combine 3 thatch and 6 bamboo to create 16 bamboo walls. These shouldn't be regular walls, they should be more like glass panes or iron bars! I think this wall should be a more yellow bamboo color , but also has the option to craft one with thatch to make a green patterned version. I also had the idea that if you used a certain block to place these walls on, they will be able to slide open and closed like a sliding door, which I think is really cool but isnt necessary!
Finally, tiki torches. They're like regular torches, but they're two blocks tall, and you can light them using regular torches. They should be crafted using sticks/bamboo, thatch, and coal. But they should also be able to be combined with a totem of undying to create tiki totems, which have a special effect or even summon a special event when you light them. Or something.
