my idea for smithing table is simple.
there are two slots , one for tool/army/... , another for matching ingredients.and the other side is has three button like enchant table, they're for the 3 attributes ( attack speed , attack range ,and attack damage , or other)
* when you put the item in the first slot ,you'll found the 3 button will show you the attributes you can grow and needed ingredients.And put the match ingredients in the other slot,with enough level ,the button will be lighten up for click,When the button clicked , the item will in accordance with the button describe to change the attributes and cost your level and the tool's durability value
BTW , all the item can grow has a time limit.
* sword / trident
----attack speed
----attack damage
----attack range
* bow/cross bow
----attack damage
----range
----punch
* armor
----armor durability
----armor antiKnockBack
----armor tough
