The Shadow Monster is a black, semi-transparent ghost like creature that spawns at y 8 and below. The creature will often hit you then turn completely invisible, the player can only hit the creature when it is in it's semi-transparent phase. When it's been hit it will retreat for a bit than catch you of guard and hit you again.
