Pigs produce fat for crafting lanterns (no more torches)

Almost each animal in Minecraft who can be breeded for food, drops two or three items after death.

 

Cow drops meat and leather. It can be milked also.

Chicken drops meat and feather. It can produce eggs also.

Sheep drops meat and gives wool.

Rabbit drops meat and hide.

 

But Pig drops only pork meat.

 

Pigs are useless. If you need meat - you will breed cows.

 

To make pigs useful, we need additional item from them.

What possibly pig can drop?

 

Fat. Pigs are known for their fat. Western people prefer bacon.

Slavic nations love "salo": dried in salt pork fat.

 

So it can be new food item, or it could be new crafting ingredient.

I suggest to use it in lanterns instead of torches.

 

If Whales will be added to the game, they can drop fat too.

    Lanterns from pork fat could differ from regular lanterns. Produce more light
