Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Add new block: Gunpowder Barrel

Gunpowder is cool. But it can only be used (as far as I know) in brewing or to craft TNT, which is a shame because I almost never brew. I have some ideas to spice things up.

Introducing the gunpowder barrel (note that this is not to replace TNT in any way);

Crafted like an ordinary barrel, but with gunpowder or TNT inside, or alternatively surrounding a regular barrel with gunpowder in a crafting grid, the gunpowder barrel has no fuse.

If it is powered by redstone, on fire or next to lava it will explode instantly. That makes it different to TNT. Also, it could look like a normal barrel, but explode if you try to open it. A sort of trapped chest mechanic. (Some people would probably really dislike this part so maybe not)

Currently barrels are like chests but with some (mostly beneficial) differences. This would be consistant with that, with the Gunpowder Barrel being like TNT but with some differences.

I think this would be a really interesting mechanic for redstone builds.

    I feel like it shouldn't instantly explode if you just open it, especially since you could hook up a clever redstone device to do so (I feel that it would be more balanced).

    Great idea!  The top should be open so you can see the gunpowder.  That let's people who like to build custom maps (me) use it for decoration.

    I think it should have a different texture than a normal barrel.
