Uncraftable tools and armour with special abilities

Enchantments and books seems kind of lazy. Those are overpowered perks in the game that the player doesn't need much effort to obtain. Instead, take some of those enchantments, put them into unique weapons and armour(that can't be crafted), and hide them in different places like the sea fortresses, the woodland mansions, and maybe the nether. This would drive the need to actually explore these generated structures. This would add more of a fantasy feel because you could provide the addition of intriguing names

Perhaps armor made out of new materials, like obsidian, would fit into this category?
