I have played this game for a long time, and after doing it thousands of times,it has become boring to me because there is no real reason to progress. I see this complaint a lot with other older players, and I believe it to be rooted in the most fundamental flaw of minecraft. I beleive the antidote to this is a more complex and extensive progression system. It appears to me that the game developers have already tried to half hazardly implement this into the game with the Wither and the Ender Dragon. Seemingly coinciding with the progression of dimensions as well. but it can be better.
- Example of Suggested System:
Player spawns in Overworld
progresses to the Nether | Defeats Wither
Progresses to the End | defeats Ender Dragon
Progresses to the *Blank* | defeats *Blank*
Ect...
The reason Minecraft got so popular again was because the development of the game has finally picked back up again. I beleive that if these different dimensions of progression where implemented in individual updates along with other smaller changes to the game, it would excite the community even more. Imagine having a world where you progress to the ceiling of where you can progress to. At this point, the player wouldn't get bored of their world anymore under this system because now that the game is adding a new progression every update/every other update or so, the player can excitedly prepare for it instead of dropping the world all together because there is no longer anything to accomplish.
