Now that we have a reach attribute modifier, in my opinion we beed something to make use of it.
Entering, the halberd.
The halberd could be crafted with two sticks in a diagonal fashon, with two pieces of material on top, like this:
X X M
X S M
S X X
It would deal slightly more damage than a sword of the same material, an attack speed of 1.7, and a reach stat of 5 or 6 (whatever you feel is the most balanced), significantly more than any other tool or weapon, furthermore, it would have a small chance of breaking shields like an axe. This would come at the cost of negating the use of the offhand slot by greying it out when you wield the weapon, so no offhand items, also, the halberd would not be able to be used for sweep attacks.
Aesthetically speaking, the halberd would appear as a long shaft with a small axe head and a big, long spear head at the end, the player would hold it horizontally with two hands unlike other items.
As far as enchantments go, the halberd would be able to receive Sharpness, Unbreaking, Mending, Looting and Fire Aspect, Smite and Bane of Arthropodes, along with one new enchantment:
- Unhorsing (I-II): gives a 50-100 percent chance to instantly dismount any mounted entity you hit (e.g. chicken jockey)
A unique mechanic I thought of would be a new banner bearing mechanic. Basically, crafting the halberd with a banner would make said banner appear hanging from the halberd when you wield it.
