I see that people have already posted about mobs jumping gaps, but I haven't yet seen significant posts about mobs being able to crouch. Now that players can fit into 1.5 block spaces and 1 block spaces, it is even easier to evade any type of mob, including ones that are 1 block high like spiders, given you take extra precautions. It would be much more dangerous and interesting if (maybe only on certain modes like Hard or in Hardcore worlds) mobs such as zombies, skeletons, and any of their variants (husks, strays, wither skeleton, etc.) could crouch like a player to fit under slabs and trapdoors. Additionally, mobs such as endermen could crouch to fit into 2.5 or 2 block high spaces instead of their normal 3 block height. This way, they can recognize smaller spaces and try path-finding through these spaces to reach the player.
(I didn't mention creepers because I'm not sure with their anatomy if they'd be able to crouch very well.)
On a similar note, if endermen can't crouch, shouldn't they at least be able to attack from a slightly longer range, or attack a player 1 block away where they can't normally walk? This would support the fact that they have very long, slender arms.
