    Indeed, it feel the same, this also allows for measuring mountain heights and sea depths just by looking at the y-value, because the sea level is zero, and in real life, the sea level is zero too.

    Agreed. This is especially needed now that -Y values are a thing without being under bedrock so this would really help alot.

    This post is old, but it makes a lot more sense now with the new cave update and negative Y coordinates.

    I think this makes a lot more sense than having Y0 at some arbitrary point underground. World height itself is fine at 384, the 0 point just needs to be moved, like follows:

    World height: 255
    Sea level: 0
    Bedrock: -128
