I like the idea of Bedrock Edition subtitles too! Honestly, I prefer Java Edition more than Bedrock Edition because it has more features that I prefer, and this includes subtitles! If subtitles were added in, along with other language translations (like in Java) it'd encourage me to play more. It's not a big feature that really needs to be added, but it could be integrated into the game! It might be hard to read on smaller devices, but on the Windows 10 edition, I feel it would work.
I googled how to turn on the subtitles on Bedrock because it didn't occur to me that Microsoft would be so thoughtless. All I found were threads like this. How disappointing.
Please add subtitles. I cannot play Minecraft with the sound on. Without subtitles, I will go back to playing only Java.I hope the devs at mojang see this comment, I am hearing impaired using a cochlear implant with only one ear at 60% "volume". It makes it quite difficult to hear which directions sounds are coming from such as mobs and mob spawners. Please add subtitles to bedrock it would really help out deaf and HOH players in your game. I personally love the masterpiece that is Minecraft but please add subtitles to bedrock.
Thank you. While I agree with adding captions to the game for parity, I believe this post is about the sub-Title, as in the "Bedrock Edition" tag.
Either way, I agree, as I use Minecraft: Java Edition with subtitles on even with good hearing.I don't understand why it has text to speak but not subtitles? It's unlikely (but not impossible) that a blind person would be playing it. So I guess that option is for people who never bothered to learn to read but there is not an option for someone who doesn't have the physical ability to hear what's going on? Let's face it, if a person is in such poverty they never had the opportunity to learn to read are they going to be able to afford minecrack and a computer/console to play it on? Then let's say later in life these people had a windfall and could afford many opportunities, don't you think the number of hard of hearing people for exceeds the number of illiterate people playing minecraft?
All in all, I'm a firm believer in merging the features of both versions, I understand why they don't but imagine if everyone were equal in the minecraft universe...
If that doesn't get your goat then imagine how much money you (Mojang) could make on in game purchases from java players?
Not having subtitles in the game really surprised me, they appear to support their visually impared players so why not their hearing impared ones?
I've bought both the Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft because I wanted to really show my support to Mojang/Microsoft, but I'm slowly starting to regret my purchases. Maybe a Dev will read this one day and explain to us why they can't or won't add subtitles.
I must add that I'm not deaf, I'm autistic and normall play with the sound turned off because I can't cope with lots of different noises all at once, so Mojang/Microsoft PLEASE ADD SUBTITLES.
Guys, you are all confused. This is not for the subtitles, it's a request to have the subtitle "BEDROCK EDITION" to be underneath the logo. Subtitles would make a great addition to Bedrock, but this isn't it. As for adding "BEDROCK EDITION" underneath the title, I personally feel that that's a bit ridiculous. It would be like if Bethesda renamed Skyrim to "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Creation Engine Edition" or if Epic Games renamed Fortnite to "Fortnite Battle Royale: Unreal Engine Edition". It's fine for Java since it's not the "main" version and it needs to differentiate itself from said main version.
oh man, please, please add both sound subtitles (the <cat meows> thing) and the main screen subtitle (BEDROCK EDITIONS)
ive been playing a whole year an i wasnt aware that it was on bedrock until i tried to switch on subtitles...which btw i need cos i cant hear properly, i CANNOT tell the difference between which sides sounds seem to come from normallly
Peple here are getting confused by what this post means by subtitle. This post is reffereing to that little bit of text underneath the 'Minecraft' title that says 'Java Edition' and that the same should be added to Bedrock - NOT subtitles (or captions) which add a description of currently playing sounds.
In my opinion both of these should be added to bedrock, but this post was reffereing only to the 'Java Edition' beneath the title.
Why doesn't Bedrock have subtitles yet? I get headaches easily to sounds so on java I would turn down the sound and have a subtitles but when I play on Pe there no subtitles and it's upsetting. :( Please add subtitles soon!
Please please please add subtitles to bedrock, especially for the switch. We have been asking for years and it is extremely rude and ableist. You have text to speech and things for those who have low vision/are illiterate, but not for those who are HOH/deaf/have sensory issues/can't play with sound? You rely so much on sound for this game to just in general not die, it's hard to really be able to ignore this oversight. I'm HOH and have an auditory processing disorder on top of getting overstimulated but frequently play minecraft to help ground myself and all that. I usually play java but I can't just take out my laptop like I can a switch, but it's honestly hard for me to play and it's very frustrating because I love the game so much and have basically since it came out. Please listen to us and actually help us. Doing it late is better than doing it never. Thank you
