Well when you get the fish item, it's dead, so it wouldn't really make sense would it?

Why is the fish dead when I obtain it? For example when I catch a fish with my fishing rod, it shouldn't be automatically dead.

Because Minecraft, it isn't completely accurate to real life. But yes, when you get the item, it's dead.

Has nothing to do with real life. I want to put the fish I catch from fishing, into my pond. I had to look up online that I had to use a water bucket (not even an empty bucket) to catch a fish which I can then dump into my pond. Doesn't make sense, isn't user-friendly either.

Maybe have a time limit of when you can do that, like you have only 1 minute to put it in a bucket after catching it with a rod

So you want a floppy fish in your inventory?! Who puts a live fish in their pocket?! If you want the fish to be alive it should be dragged to you flopping and you have to click it with either a sword or bucket. After all in real life the fish isn't going to come quietly. So do you want the easy catch of a dead fish? Or do you want your fish fight? Just grab a bucket and catch the fish in that.its not that hard.F from my sister
