Customizable texture settings means that you can go to the video settings and can decide between 16*16(normal) 32*32(normal+) 64*64 (good-) 128*128(good) and 256*256(good+) the a*b is for one side of one block so 16*16 are 256 pixels for each side and 256*256 are 32768 pixels for each side of the block
