The Nether hasn't gotten any particularly interesting mobs (or any particularly interesting additions for that matter) since Beta 1.9. That's far too long of a time for the Nether to not have any attention. So, I propose 3 mobs separated across multiple posts - because rules - that could be added alongside other peoples' Nether-related suggestions to make the Nether less boring.
The Ember would crawl around at a speed slightly faster than a sprinting player. Magma Block veins have a 35% chance to have 3 to 7 Embers spawn on them, and Embers will remain near the vein they spawn from. If the vein is completely destroyed in some way or they are spawned in, they will immediately search as a group for a new Magma Block vein to occupy. If another Magma Block vein is already occupied, the two groups will fight over ownership, and the winners will claim the vein. Their body is similar to Silverfish, but with a slightly shorter tail and glow-in-the-dark eyes. They have 2D spines like the Silverfish, but they only jut upwards and glow near the tips. Their color palette is close to the Magma Block colors. If a mob/player gets too close to a Magma Block vein "owned" by Embers, they would all start attacking it via contact damage until it either fled from their vein or died. The damage caused by an Ember would always be 2 no matter what difficulty, but they would also set fire to the recipient of their damage. Embers have a 20% chance to drop a Fire Charge when killed.
