Placing maps in boats

When you are trying to map out an area in a boat, it's really annoying how you can't see your map while rowing. I know that this is because you use both your hands to row, but since there is space in front of you when you are in a boat, why not let us put the map there? It can become a part of the boat itself (so if you get out, the map will stay, and you can get it back by breaking the boat).
