And horses or other entities travelling fast for that matter, if an entity travels fast and hits a mob or player, it should do higher damage depending on it's speed and the victim's defence.
It would make the gameplay more immersive in a realistic sense, though Minecraft has many unrealistic features (eg: landing into a puddle of water at terminal velocity doesn't kill you), it could make combat more entertaining too, and if players don't want it, they can switch collision damage off as a gamerule.
