before we get throwing ideas and opinions, I think it is very important that we know a bit of the trader’s backgrounds
first, where they come from. From their appearance, we can guess that they very likely came from some form of desert like biome. Their sandals, bandana, and the colors of their clothing. Llamas however, they come from cold mountains or extreme hills and such, which is the complete opposite of the traders. So we can also say that either they travelled to the mountains to take llamas with them, or they already llamas available to them where they came from. This also means that it is possible that biome isn’t really a factor of where they set up their outpost.
second, who are they? Are they travelers trying to make a living by selling things that they found in the wild so that they can buy a couple pieces of bread from the farmers? Are they merchants that trade goods from one place to another? Or collectors that just wants to share their treasures with the people they come across? The game suggests that they are a mix of 2 and 3. But we now need to ask, where do they get their goods from?
The wandering traders are inspired by the Arabic merchants that travelled on the infamous Silk Road. There are cities or checkpoints for these traders to exchange their goods. I want the Minecraft variant to be more original however, I suggest that there should be an ocean stronghold where these traders will reside. So what do you think?
