When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

The powders in the game are both the most useful and the most logical to add this feature for. Great idea!

This would be a great change. It would also make tree farms more compact, since a lot of the double and tripple piston extenders could be replaced by a single piston + sand as a filler block.

Yes!  I've had this idea for a long time.  For one thing, it would allow for semi-automated flint farms.  The dispenser should place the block in front of itself if there isn't already a block there.  If there is nothing under the block when it is placed, it would fall as usual.  Thus you could make a stack of gravel and stand at the bottom of the stack with a shovel and dig.  You could even set up an item sorter to place the flint at a chest at the bottom and send the gravel back to the top to go through the system again.

Good idea. If I recall correctly, wasn’t Minecraft able to do this with sand and gravel before?

Personally, I'd go a step further and let dispensers place any block, but even just being able to place gravity-affected blocks would be great. We already have the ability to place water, lava, powdered snow, and even carved pumpkins (in some cases), so I don't see why we can't just let dispensers go ahead and place any block.

I can't believe this isn't voted higher. The dispenser should be able to place any gravity block - from armor stands, to anvils, sand, gravel, and concrete powders. This expands the possible redstone devices players can create, and would make tedious tasks much more entertaining. C'mon Mojang. Make this happen!!

they should be able to dispense everything, they are essentially a dropper with a little extra functionality. why not place blocks, attack with sword, plant crops etc etc
