As much as I would want this in game, I feel like Coral wouldn't function like that and it would be damaging the plants themselves(being realistic here).

That, or it could be a combination of say...4 horn coral and 4 horn coral fans and you get 4 or 8 horn coral!

This makes perfect sense (picture it as coral growing denser, since the species doesn't actually change) and makes coral blocks a renewable resource!

Amazing idea.I would like if corals plants can grow to corals blocks formations using bone meal. Its a way to make new corals reefs around the minecraft world.

I think this is the best solution as coral is already farmable. I love using dead brain coral to break up stony textures, but it's a real pain to find new coral reefs especially if you live in a cold climate.

To be honest I think it should be a 2x2 instead of a 9x9. Also one coral in a crafting table should make one coral fan. This would make all coral items renewable as you can obtain regular coral by bonemealing underwater.

I love the idea. I have houses near a coral reef and it would be such a bummer to rip up the reef to get some nice building blocks.
