Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Campfires Should Be Unlit By Default

It never really made much sense why a campfire is lit by default.

It would make a lot more sense if it was unlit when placed and has to be lit with a flint and steel.

This also is an advantage to those who like to build with the unlit campfire block as they wouldn't have to extinguish each campfire they place.

    I mean extinguishing a Campfire isn't that hard to do.

    It's also suppose to be an easy way for players to get cooked food when they start a new world.

    It honestly does make sense because you're rubbing the stick together to make a Campfire even though it doesn't display that.

    Perhaps the unlit campfire should be a block in and of itself.

    I do get why mojang perhaps wanted it lit by default, so it can be used right away and one does not need to obtain flint and steel to light it up. But, if one already have acces to coal (that is needed for the crafting of the campfire) then one can as easily craft a furnace and use the coal there.

    Personally I would like the campfire unlit by default, it would make it easier to use for builders who use it as a decorative piece, since it is often used quite a lot in builds.

    I do also believe it is used more often in its unlit form than its lit form so in that regard, it also makes more sense having it unlit by default.

    This would be a considerable improvement for Survival builders, as the (unlit) campfire is a great block aesthetically but a pain to extinguish en-masse.

    In general this seems like a good idea, but I found a problem:

     

    Following the same logic, shouldn't torches apply too?

    That would be very annoying to have to light torches, so that's why we don't have to.

    But if campfires had to be lit, it would create an inconsistency.
