Renew the crafting table experience for Minecraft newbies!
Dear Developers,
you seem to have forgotten that every year new players join minecraft who haven´t played the game, yet. I come to this conclusion because you have vastly reduced an important factor of the discovery of minecraft, with the introduction of the green book that can be clicked when opening the invenotry or the crafting table: For me, back then, it was a very interesting discovery to actually randomly place items into the crafting table grid in order to see what is possible to build. This discovery has been taken away from those new players, who instead instantly find all receipts that can be done with a block they just collected.
For this reason, I would like to fill the content of the green book - which I, by the way, love a lot, and do not want to miss - in a different way:
Instead of unlocking all receipts for a block in the moment you pick it up, the receipts should be unlocked one by one, when a player - by trial and error - puts the correct receipt into the crafting grid. Of course I do see the difficulcy for some receipts which players would never discover this way. For this reason, I would like you to fill the dungeon chests randomly with written books, here one example for the "Enderchest" book:
Title of the book: Enderchest
Author: unknown
Text on page 1:
8 x Obsidian
1 x Endereye
(Maybe a nice, wise spell regarding the item could be put here, as well. For example, for the Endereye receipt: "Follow it´s sight to reach an unseen end ...", or for the Enderchest receipt: "Different dimensions remain untouched ...")
These books would be very easy to design by you with already existing content. New players would try to find the materials mentioned in these books - and if they do not know how to get these, they would hunt for more books. Then they would discover how to correctly align them on the crafting grid in order to receive the result, which would be a similar experience to the one I had in the early days of the game, when the green book did not exist and I did not know about the wiki. Experienced players would simply unlock the receipt they want by putting the correct shape into the crafting grid, using their already present knowledge (most of them also know about the wiki).
This way, the "early experience" which made minecraft famous in its early days remains to be experienced also by our newest members, allowing them to accept the game into their hearts like we old players accepted it within ours ...
