Cactus Fruit

I've noticed that almost all other biomes naturally generate a type of food except for the desert. I've seen a few other posts mention having cactus fruit in addition to their idea, but none of them solely focus on how cactus fruit could improve the game. The fruit could naturally spawn on the sides of cacti like cocoa beans do on jungle trees, and they would be farmed the same way. If you place a cactus fruit on a cactus it will slowly grow into a bunch which can be harvested. When you initially place the fruit on the cactus it could look like a cactus blossom, which can be made permanent using the debug stick (for those creative makers out there) I also think cactus fruit can be used in potion making and can add some sort of fire resistant buff to the player. It can also be made into magenta dye by putting it into a furnace. Also by adding together apples, sweet berries, watermelon and the cactus fruit with a wooden bowl it could make a fruit salad.
