Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Wings

I think it'd be cool if craft-able wings could be an additional torso/chest replacement item. 

The recipe could go as follows: 6 feathers + 1 nether star, or 6 feathers + a specific item that is hard to get. 

The result would be a pair of angel/demon-looking wings that jut from the back, and let you fly to a certain distance. This could be achieved by jumping twice really fast like a double jump, but holding the jump key after the second tap to allow the player to ascend like one does in creative. 

To make the wings not entirely OP it could be easy to give the wings a cool down after activation, making it so you can only fly for so many seconds and maybe have to wait a short time before further use, but gliding and negated fall damage could be additional bonuses.

    @blast burner not entirely true. Mind you I said 6 feathers + a hard to acquire item, such as a nether star.

    If you ever played terraria it isn't an incredible advantage either. Especially if more ranged mobs are added or flying ones.

     

    Speaking of Terraria they have it so you only could fly so much before gliding down, making it so you have to land on something before flying again. It could only allow say; 20 blocks of height before forcing you to glide down to the ground before flying again.

    Elytra don't work the way I suggested, and it creates diversity in flying items. 

    In terraria there is a cloud item for jumping, a hook to fling towards walls, jet boots to fly, and wings to fly in a different way.

    Make it so they can only work with power and power means blocks of Redstone for temporary flight and a nether star for more speed plus can't run out and Dragon egg for even faster flight
