In Minecraft, there are numerous potion effects, but fewer potions for those effects, meaning many effects are exclusive to thier source.
I think this should not be the case, as there are more than enough items to have unique ingredients per potion, and the point of potions is to allow the player to experience unusual effects.
I will provide below, my opinion of the ideal ingredients and effects, as examples of a possible system.
Levitation potion - Slow falling + Fermented spider eye.
Levitation 1 for 15/20 seconds, or 2 for 10 seconds.
Resistance - Shulker shell.
1 for 30/60 seconds or 2 for 20 seconds.
Wither - Many people proposed charred bones, from the wither skeleton, which I would prefer, but coal is acceptable also.
1 for 10/20 seconds or 2 for 5 seconds.
Mining fatigue - Cobwebs.
1 for 3/8 minutes or 2 for 90 seconds.
Haste - Gold.
1 for 1.5/5 minutes or 2 for 1 minute.
Glowing (Spectral arrows) - Glowstone block.
1 for 3/5 minutes or 2 for 1.5 minutes.
Hunger - Rotten flesh.
1 for 30/45 seconds or 2 for 1 minute.
Nausea - Fermented spider eye.
1 for 15/25 seconds or 2 for 10 seconds.
Saturation - Hunger + Fermented spider eye.
1 for 10 seconds or 2 for 5 seconds.
You would get the fast healing, but hunger won't be affected.
