    Technically, we do have NBT tags for commands. Sadly, it's limited to the /give command, mostly for the use of CanPlaceOn and CanDestroy, if not completely. Having said that, I agree. Testing if a player has a specific piece of armor or an item in their inventory is a good reason to have it.
