In the real world, Bamboo is Dried and can be used for small Construction Projects, Irrigation and Water Features so I was thinking...
What if you could make Dried Bamboo in a Furnace by smelting?
Using 3 Dried Bamboo in crafting slots 4, 6 & 8 (a V shape) could make Bamboo Water Pipes. When connected to a Filled Cauldron (Maybe make a separate Water Barrel for this) the Bamboo Pipes could be connected in a line up to 16 blocks (Like Redstone Dust) which would drip water out like it does through a Block with Water above (But Faster) and irrigate Farmland beneath it. Each bit of Bamboo Pipe would do a 3x3 area below it so you'd only need them every other block above.
Another idea would be making a Bamboo Trellis, Dried Bamboo in Crafting Slots 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 9 (Same as a Ladder) would craft a Trellis. 2 High Flowers such as Rose Bush or Lilacs could be placed in the Trellis and would grow Up, similar to how Vines grow down. It'd be a new era in House Design!
Dried Bamboo would also be a good Construction Material. Allowing stylised Support Struts for Builds similar to Fences but with a more rustic effect.
I don't beleive Dried Bamboo Items such as these or other ideas I had (Such as Water and Item Pipes that can flow Latterally or Downwards, cheaper than Endless Hopper Chains) would particularly break the Game as Bamboo is something that has been used for hundreds of years. It just requires Drying, Cutting and Tying together!
Some of the recipes could be enhanced maybe by adding String, or perhaps use a Stick & Iron Ingot to make a Bamboo Tool (File or small knife) that loses durabilty with each Craft...But I do reckon that Dried Bamboo would be a lore freindly and innovative addition to Minecraft as a whole!
