Taming mobs with name tags

I think that name tags don't really have much purpose. If there was a more useful situation like taming a skeleton or spider or dolphin then I think the name tag would gain more purpose.  You could use a hostile mob like a skeleton to attack other hostile mobs. If you could make them stay, you could turn them into sentries. With a spider, you could climb on walls or ceilings. A creeper could become a walking bomb you could detonate. Maybe name tags could be crafted, but using more rare materials, making this a bit more difficult to accomplish.

There could also be a benefit to using a name tag on an animal you can already tame. Like how you can get a dog to sit and stay. Maybe you could hatch the Ender Dragon's egg and tame the baby Ender Dragon.

  Name Tags are used to name a mob and that's it. It doesn't give the ability to tame a mob.

  Taming the Ender Dragon is a big no. Also why would you tame the ender dragon when the end portal is closed? You would be stuck there forever.
