Custom End Chests

By customizing end chest you could link two end chests together having a special inventory just for that link. By doing this end chest could be hooked up to hoppers and be able to make a multi dimensional storage system by using very advanced item sorters. For example after setting up the system you are working on a large build but you are lacking certain blocks. You would a certain block into the ender chest (say red wool for redstone) the item would be pulled from the linked chest in your base storage system and would be sent through a complex sorting system that would detect the red wool and would then activate the storage system to release a Shulker box of redstone through hoppers or droppers or a water stream into the linked ender chest. This would allow much easier and faster building with zero running back and forth from your bases storage system to your build.

    Sounds like a good idea, but I'm worried about servers: How much memory storage would be needed to store links on say, a typical survival server? But overall, I wonder why there aren't many votes here? (at time of typing)

    I thought of the same kinda thing funny story i thought you could use a hopper to transfer items in and out of an ender chest so i got all of the stuff turns out you cant do that

    Im not sure i like the idea as proposed, but I do think your on the right track. Instead of the ender chest idea and linking them somehow, introduce a new hopper type that has fewer slots and works from nether to overworld but only if it is near a portal. You can already use portals to transfer items but its not always reliable. Alternativly a single block similar to the End gates that can transfer items wirelessly. But i do feel like this would all take alot of the need for all the transportation tihngs in minecraft already. it would need to be balanced and maybe an end game item like elaytra or the beacon.
