I feel like Nintendo Labo VR (for the Nintendo Switch) and Minecraft would make for an awesome combination! I've noticed that there are multiple versions of Minecraft VR; the main two I've noticed were ones with free hand movement and ones with a standard controller layout and a stutter turn. Personally, I think that either would work (the stutter turn more so due to no included headstrap), but having one controller in each hand would truly seal the immersion in my opinion.
I know, it would be pretty easy, it just needs two sides of the same thing, and it needs to be circles, it should be easy to use as you turn around & use the same controls on the Joy-cons or Pro Controller. I t would be the first non-Nintendo game to have VR.
My roommate and I were discussing grabbing an Oculus Quest for the sake of Minecraft VR (if/when it becomes officially available) but Labo VR would be a wonderful stop gap; since Bedrock has already been put on the Switch, I’d hope that implementing a VR mode would require less work than porting over a fresh version to the Quest. I fully support this!
Bonus Point: Minecraft and Labo would be an excellent combination, since Labo requires a bit of assembly, similar to the spirit of building things in Minecraft! I might even considering picking up an additional Minecraft-themed Labo VR kit 😎
I agree that Labo VR and Minecraft should be a thing x.x To be all honest it no longer can be the first non Nintendo IP game to be with Labo, but to what I know the second as of now. x.x
Also as for a head-strap I got one from 3rd party I like so I could play BotW in VR with ease and use it here. x.x But if they came out with one Minecraft theme might get that as well. lol More so if it was marketed more like a prebuilt VR Goggles set that Minecraft themed that the Switch can be put into.
Explaining what I mean by prebuilt: not out of cardboard and likely premolded into shape with straps included, that way users can play with the Joy-Cons in hands and the Switch on the head and still have the normal Labo VR headset able to be used with the other parts of Labo VR (the "Toy-Cons") without need of 3rd party head-strap needing to be added in or removed base on what you using it for and risk damage to the cardboard for unfolding and refolding.
Normal Bedrock is already tough enough on the Switch, there's no way it can handle VR. VR is much tougher to run as you have to render every frame twice (once for each eye), which means you need to be getting a smooth 120 FPS, and the game already can't keep a smooth 60. Don't forget how low resolution the Switch's screen is, and you get a little under half of that for each eye.
I have a 3rd party headset that I bought for Minecraft on my switch and was disappointed to find that it didn't have a vr mode option. MAKE THIS HAPPEN MICROSOFT!
