Realms Alternatives

Hey Minecraft Team!

So me and my friends have really nothing to play together except Minecraft, but we dont live nearby and could barely have time to arrange a meet up. So i was wondering if we can get some form of Online Hosting other than Realms, or IF/WHY that wont happen. I am also aware of 3rd party softwares for hosting servers, but were Really young, and therefore cant pay, plus i dont trust that
