Subject was too unspecific, added information to help people find it.

It could be a feature of the loom or something with the new pattern options they have

I wasn't thinking about wool blocks -- basically, we have glazed terracotta for this purpose -- but patterned carpet should definitely be a thing.

Two ways to do it. Both would be a good use for a Loom. First, (color) Carpet + String = Patterned (color) Carpet.  This yields 16 new blocks, one for each of 16 colors.  Second, (color A) Carpet + (color B) Carpet = Patterned (color A/color B) Carpet, for example Patterned Red/Blue Carpet. This should yield 256 patterns, but could be cut almost in half by declaring that (for example) Patterned Red/Blue Carpet is the same as Patterned Blue/Red Carpet.  One could drop a few more disallowing (for example) Patterned Red/Red Carpet, but I feel like those should exist (as ex. Patterned Red Carpet).
