This liquid substance would not actually be water, though it would flow like it. There would be an advantage to another liquid type in Minecraft. First, touching dry water would burn the player, though not set him on fire. This would allow underwater obstacles to be created, which could create traps and other hazards, even if used in the overworld. Though it would not damage the player as much or as often as lava, the player could still drown in it.
Having it in the nether is beneficial too. It would a very limited resource, even more so than lava. It would provide the player the opportunity to use the riptide enchantment in the nether, in a limited capacity. Being found in the nether in small quantities which should also require long explorations to find, the player could explore collect and set up small pools in strategic places allowing them to fly through the nether.
It would also not affect lava. This would prevent the player from transforming the dangerous lava in the nether into obsidian. But it would provide a visual aesthetic to “farms” or bases the player has established in the nether.
One last benefit from Dry water would be to have it carry redstone signals. When “power” input into dry water, it would pass it along, through the diminishing flow (distance would lessen the strength of the signal). Items and other aspects of water should be present in this liquid, interactions with soulsand, and magma, for bubble effects, items float to the top, this could generate other innovations from player using this. It could have special interactions repeaters, and pressure plates, not washing them away, or nether quartz versions of these items could exist which would not be washed away by dry water.
It would be a grey color rather than blue. It would also not create new blocks of itself like water, working more like lava in this regard. It could however be created after some time using the Blue leafed plants, which when raised would generate a single “block” of Dry water.
Finding it in a nether oasis fountain made of bone and Netherwart brick, would be a treat for the player who have put in the effort to explore and find this resource.
