The idea:
I had this idea a while ago when I was creating a secret bunker that only I could access. There are many ways people hide switches to personal areas, but what's a better place to hide a switch than in your inventory? Basically, you could craft a remote sensor, and place it anywhere on the ground. Remote sensors come in two varieties: "Hold" and "On/Off". Then, you can craft a redstone remote, which, when you first craft it, it will be unpaired. When unpaired, the remote will do nothing. In order to pair it, go up to a sensor, and with the remote in your hand, right click the sensor. This will pair the two. Now, with the remote in your hand, whenever you right click, the sensor will emit a redstone signal. If the sensor is of the "Hold" variety, the signal will only be emitted when you hold right click. With the "On/Off" variety, the signal will be toggled between "on" and "off" every time you right click with the remote in your hand. You can de-pair a certain remote from a sensor by right clicking the sensor while holding the remote (Crouching will disable this, and you can use the remote while your crosshair is pointed on the sensor regardless), you can also connect the remote to more than one sensor (But only sensors of the same variety). If you want to create a copy of the remote without having to create a new remote, and go back to the sensor to pair it (This would be especially painful to do if you have the remote paired to a bunch of sensors, say for a map), all you have to do is place the sensor in a crafting table along with another "blank" remote, and the blank remote will become a copy of the first. The copy will be recognized as a copy, and by placing a piece of iron in with the two remotes when creating the copy will make it so the copy cannot be copied, so the person or whoever you gave the copy to cannot mass-produce copies, and make the remote exclusive to that person.
Uses:
The remote could be used in a variety of different situations, and would become one of the most practical redstone devices of all. It could be used, as previously mentioned, to make certain areas exclusive. It could be used as a detonator for TNT, it could be used in maps where, say the core mechanic is that you have to toggle between two different colours of platform. It could be used as a key of sorts, and this would be all in the convenience of only taking up one slot in your inventory. I'm sure there are many other uses, but I just thought that such an item would be so practical and useful, that it could really spice up builds and maps. (And traps)
