Lava Guppy (Nether Mob)

This lava dwelling mob would make it treacherous to travel close to the edges of large bodies of lava, pulling the player into the lava before they take a bite. This is a fish mob which lives in lava near the edges of the lava ‘lakes’ in the Nether. With its long tongue it snares players who get too close to the lava’s edge. Players caught unaware will be pulled into the lava where the guppy will then release them.  But as the player tries to swim for shore the guppy will grab it again.  However, if the player reacts fast enough by moving in the opposite direction of the Guppy’s pull while still on shore, he can pull the Guppy from the Lava.  Out of the lava the Guppy will flop around giving the player the opportunity to kill it easily.

                The Guppy should look like an armored gurnard fish. It should swim close to the surface of the lava so that it can be seen by attentive players. But it should bob up and down to make it more difficult to kill with arrows.

                Tridents will be a particularly effective weapon against Guppies. The guppy’s tongue should have a moderate range of around five blocks, but they should prefer to stay in shallow lava.

We need more danger in the nether and the lava lakes are very empty currently.

    A mob like this could also hunt the player, if they were to add a netherite boat or a boat that works in lava, this mob could follow the boat and attack the player once on the shore, If it were to break the surface of the lava( you could see it swimming around the surface), as a way to signal to the player that it is hunting them, it would allow the player to attack it and kill it from the boat, before it can attack them.

    this would work great now that people are making nether bridges now that basalt is generated but it would be nice if they were scared of striders

    Yes, they should be scared of striders so that they don't pull you off when your out riding.
