I recently watched a documentry that mentioned Humboldt squids, I think they're awesome, and i beleive they could add a very fun feature to Minecraft in the way of sea exploration. Squids are very common, passive, mobs and it would be a pain to deal with every squid you meet, so only 10% of squids are mean like these, I think an unexpected attack could add some great excitement and new level of danger while exploring in the sea. So I suggest a new squid mob that's not a boss or anything huge, more like something that could really cause a bruise to un-prepared players without good gear to fight with, that looks like a normal squid but when you get within around 5 blocks of them they start flashing and attack you, dealing about 2-3 hearts each hit.
The flashing reflects what Humboldt squids do where they almost strobe on and off of light to dark, it's considered a language. If your really unlucky there's a chance more mean squids appear and make this a real battle. This strobe animation can give players a heads up that probably won't let them escape all danger but can give them a chance to swim towards to surface a little. The real squids swim low and pull you under so that might make it a little harder to get away if you dont have resperation.
That's the mob I suggest. I would really enjoy it I think, even if it's frustrating here and there, but maybe they could drop a tooth or something you could make a sword with or something to make it worth while, but that's not needed in my opinion. In my java 1.13 world, the drowned are so rare and hardly ever in the ocean right next to my base. I probably messed something up, but there's less danger in the sea than I thought there would be. Minecraft pe is extremely easier to get tridents and find drowned in, they might not need this as much as I see java needing this. I hope you consider this!
With much thanks for the fun,
