Certain parts of the minecraft world should generate more ores than other areas, similiar to real life. Much like biomes, there should be "iron biomes" and "coal biomes" where underground, a certain ore can be abundantly found. Of course, there should be stone biomes where the existance of ores are almost absent.
Slime chunks, emeralds in mountains, and gold in mesa biomes were very well received and I personally think Mojang should implement more of these features. So far, mining has not been easy, nor challenging, you just mindlessly mine through rock, hoping to find diamond. Adding a feature like this could potentially show if you pay attention to the world around you. Obviously, certain ores, such as redstone, lapiz, and diamonds for example, should have rare ore biomes. Having ore biomes can push the player to explore the world for resources and make use of the world.
To make it more reasonable, these "biomes" when spawning, should:
1. correspond to the actuall biomes, like "coal biomes" in swamp, mountains, or deserts, and "iron biomes" are in mountains.
2. have these chunks have a chance of spawning in previously said corresponding biomes
3. or make new sub biomes that have obvious geographical features that give away it is a specific ore biome so you can test your skills in finding that one specific ore.
4. they can also make ore biomes spawn randomly, but it would make it based on luck instead of skill.
