Why not make it an Option to turn it off instead?

This needs to be resolved. I'm paying for realms so it's doubly annoying.

This AFK issue also carries through if you are using a Minecart track. This is annoying if going places takes a hile and you would not like to waste the time shaking your mouse every so often.

I really need this, I'm about to just pay a different server host just so I can go afk without having to fish.

This is silly, those paying for a realm should be able to turn the afk kick off. Only reason I purchased a realm was to record time lapse on a computer in Survival and behold a while later my camera on a platform above me gets kicked.

SOOOO stupid. Allow us to turn that off, it's stupid, we pay for the service and when it's just me and my camera online there should be no reason to kick anyone for anything.

This really needs more votes but ultimately the suggestion is not worded correctly. Once you get into later game play in Minecraft most people migrate to third party hosts because they provide the features you need. This should be the main argument here. Minecraft is losing customers over this and other lack of features.

100% on board with being able to AFK as long as you want! Having to resort to workarounds is annoying and ultimately redundant.

    EXACTLY

Mojang should add a command called "/setidletimeout" not just on realms but servers and single player worlds. You would type the time after "/setidletimeout"

    i.e.

    /setidletimeout 1 hour

    or (for no timeout)

    /setidletimeout x

    or

    /setidletimeout 60 minutes

whatever the case, i personally think it's VERY STUPID that realm owners such as myself aren't able to set an afk timeout. We pay a flipping 7 dollars per month on it. We could be paying for disney+ or netflix. If java edition wasn't better than Bedrock/win10 then i would switch back to when there wasn't an afk timeout.

If I was paying for any other server I could stay on it as long as I want. Stop the kick.

Same for Realms on Bedrock. Is nonsense that we can't AFK as we want or as the owner of the world can let us do. I approve the comand for set the limit.

Ya this is really upseting. Me and mny friends have to make like water tricks to keep us moveing from being kicked so we can't afkfish.

I have an actual reason that getting kicked from realms has seriously affected the gameplay, not just annoyed me. Me and my friends were fighting the dragon on a realm, and when we killed it, we grab the egg, and jump in the portal. We were reading the end poem, because hey, it only appears once in the game, right? Well, apparently reading the end poem counts as afk, because I was kicked in the middle of reading. That was bad enough, but there's more. When I rejoined, I rejoiined back in the end. The dragon egg was gone. It was not on the pedestal either. If it weren't for realm backups, the dragon egg would be gone for this ridiculous feature that adds nothing to gameplay. We need your votes to remove this feature. So stop reading this comment, and give this post a vote!

This is a great idea, it should be toggle able and it shouldn’t be classed as a ‘cheat’ option. To be honest there could be plenty more detailed options in realms, for instance allowing creators to make plugins like tpa requests and setting homes, claiming land etc. I’ve seen realm hosts create such complicated methods of overcoming these small problems; When it comes to hosting servers the only way realms can compete is with its feed and inviting friends functions, in that sense it’s beneficial from both a business and player point of view

Yeahhh I and im sure SEVERAL others will be switching to dedicated servers where we can actually get help and useful commands/assets for our server. I will NEVER use realms again lol. Such a waste of money, Lag is unreal with only 3 players on my realm. Block lag (Breaking/Placing), mob lag, and so much more. Countless deaths due to realms being so poorly maintained. Also lag is an issue and the realms server is max render distance is set to very limited chunks, yet we still get lag. Stealing our money.

Go to a dedicated server host. or run a server on your pc and port forward. Realms is NOT worth your money. This has been an issue for several years and still no fix.

Just an option to turn it off would be great for people who own realms with smaller amounts of people. I only play with 5 people so I don't have problems with having a full realm. I find it annoying that I have many farms that would be so much more efficient if I just had the ability to afk.

I agree with all of these statements.. we definitely need to at least set our own custom timer if we can’t just have it turned off completely.

This absolutely needs to be added, minecraft already has a /setidletimeout command for third-party servers built in, just let us use this in realms. Mojang can add a reasonable maximum limit, maybe 6-12 hours so people dont overload Mojangs servers, but a 15 minute timeout is ridiculous.

There's a good (for them) reason they don't do this - they are using pay-by-the-minute cloud instances to host servers. When nobody is playing, they actually spin down the server, because it cuts the server costs down. This is why it takes up to a minute to join an empty realm - they have to reboot the instance.

This is a common practice in cloud computing. Since most servers are idle most of the time, it only costs them about 1-2% of what it would cost to keep the servers always running. Of course, this is bad for Minecraft for a few reasons:

    a) bad customer experience
    b) server costs are relatively cheap
    c) Minecraft is owned by MICROSOFT, who owns the cloud computing platform they use, so they're not even paying full price for server time. If competitors can offer always-on servers at a competitive price, then surely it's even easier for Minecraft to do so.

I am about to stopping paying realms and move my world to a vps because of this.

I was writting. 7 pages. And then my realm kick me. All that writing was a waste of time.

The fact that people would request this is completely ridiculous. It makes absolutely no sense for Mojang/Microsoft to provide options to disable the kicking of AFK/idling players. If this setting is introduced, then servers with one person idling will occupy server space (memory, CPU usage, etc.) which is stupidly inefficient. It's not just about profits. It's about allowing and sharing server resources across all players so everyone can enjoy a less laggy experience. If people are requesting this to collect resources through AFK farming, just go play single player. Have some thought.

I am aware that being on realms for a prolonged period of time can use a ton of data for minecraft, which can't really be changed. Im not an idiot hopefully. However, only 15 minutes of AFK'ing is almost humorous. 4-8 hours would be perfectly sufficient for most players. 6-12 would be AWESOME for nearly all players. We need this to change, because otherwise it can be much more difficult to make progress/advance in the game. You are losing money because of this. Countless players are switching to dedicated servers where they can do so much more. Please make a change to the AFK time mojang. We would all deeply appreciate it.
