Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I would love for books to be a placeable item. I was thinking it could be similar to candles and sea pickles in that you could stack them in the same blockspace. You could even make it a sort of tradeoff with bookshelves, in that the books are easier to place and are slightly cheaper(as they require no wood) but are less space-efficient since they need to be on top of surfaces. Books with specific content, like enchanted books or signed books, could be limited to single stacks if it isn't practical to program it otherwise.

This is an awesome idea. Bookshelf blocks are outdated, not very decorative, and not very useful. Imagine if you could place books on blocks to be used. And if you could stack them for aesthetics and to be used, and you could fill shelves for aesthetics and to store and use. And (incorporating other suggestions https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360029234311-Dying-books ) if you could dye books you could leave some awesome instructions, like sign in using the red book and read the blue, find the green bookshelves. And people could colour code books on tables or shelves for function or aesthetics. (Now I really want to build a proper library, with candles and lanterns and a couch and fireplace and books strewn everywhere!)

ANY item, like a potion, a sword, a bowl of stew, even a helmet.
