The lifeboat would be a larger version of the current boat with many additional functions that would make ocean exploration much easier. It would be an entity, like the normal boat, but with multiple differences. The lifeboat could be obtained from shipwrecks, and a select few blocks could be placed in it.
-- The lifeboat would be obtained from Sunken Lifeboats, which could be found next to shipwrecks. Shipwrecks have a 1/3 chance of spawning with a Sunken Lifeboat next to them. (Maybe a Lying Skeleton could generate in them if they are introduced.) The Sunken Lifeboat would have holes in its bottom and would be totally useless to the player. They would be made out of the same type of wood as the shipwreck they generate with.
--The Sunken Lifeboat could be crafted into a Lifeboat with 2 wooden shovels and 6 wooden planks. The Lifeboat would be about 3 blocks wide and 7 blocks long. This feature would apply to them. Up to 5 players (or mobs!) could ride in each one. The first player to ride the boat would sit in the front, and the other four players would sit in the far back. Unlike normal boats, all players could row the lifeboat. Only the player in the front could control the boat's direction, but if other players rowed the boat, it would move faster.
--Perhaps the most important feature of the lifeboat would be that a select few blocks could be placed in it. These blocks would be:
- Crafting Table (and its variants coming in the Village & Pillage update.)
- Chest
- Bed
- Torch
These blocks could only be placed in some parts of the lifeboat. They could not be placed in the "aisle" (space running down the middle of the boat), the area where the boat's controller sits, or any of the spaces in the back where the other players sit.
