Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Limestone

Could be found in desert and would be similar in color to smooth sandstone but could be smelted to make it a brilliant white almost textureless block

 

Edit: Coming back to this as I just encountered it again 2 years later And thinking about this again I feel like after being smelted it should be inbetween the textures for quartz and diorite

    It should also have a brick variant and both should have blocks, stairs and slabs.

    The “Cliffs” part of the Caves and Cliffs Update (The real update that changed the World) is a good time to add limestone, as limestone can be found as massive cliffs on the coastline in real life. Limestone also appears underground too, so maybe a new biome called the Limestone Caves, perhaps? They can spawn both on dry land and underwater, as limestone also forms deposits underwater. Structures called Limestone Deposits can also be found underwater, where players can mine limestone for building and other purposes.
