I like the idea but this might cause some glitches such as the portal might still be active even there is no eye

but it’s still a good idea for the game

l also want to put the portal frame side ways for decoration and creative build hacks

There's actually a really good reason to add this to the game: it would make it possible for anyone to beat the game in PEACEFUL difficulty. Remember, you can't find or craft eyes of ender currently since blazes don't spawn (and therefore you can't get blaze powder). If you could take the eyes of ender out of an end portal, you would be able to find several strongholds, steal the eyes from the unfinished portals there, and then use them to complete at least one portal in another stronghold once you collect enough of them. In fact, once you had a single eye of ender, you could even risk throwing it to help you find one of the other strongholds.

Currently, the only way to beat the game in peaceful difficulty is to get really lucky and have a seed that generates an end portal with all 12 eyes present. That's ridiculous. By allowing players to remove end eyes from existing end portals, it would allow players to gain access to The End (and by extension, shulker boxes and elytra) while playing on peaceful.

Also, removing an eye of ender from a completed portal should deactivate it, obviously. (Or perhaps it shouldn't be possible to remove ender eyes from a completed portal.)

It sounds like a good idea. Players could beat the game in peaceful (albeit they would need to find about 120 strongholds to get all the eyes necessary). Comparators could also detect if an end portal frame has an eye in it or not. That functionality isn't really useful if once the eye is in the frame, it couldn't be removed.

Great idea. I would really like to use this for getting to the end in peaceful as outlined above. It would also be quite difficult/ time consuming. I had about a 25% chance of finding an eye on a portal frame in my seed. Not all strongholds have an eye spawned and not all strongholds even have an end frame. Very good idea!
