The Nether, as we all know, is an interesting place, filled with interesting mobs. It also contains a building where two special mobs, the Blaze and Wither Skeleton spawn. This building is the Nether Fortress. Aside from housing these mobs, nether warts, and some decent loot, this structure has no purpose. I suggest that we add a new tower, with a new boss to go inside. With this I guarantee that the Fortress won't just be used as a mob farm.
What is this mob?
This mob would be called the Fortress Guardian (creative I know, suggest other names if you want), this guardian would stand 5 blocks tall, and look like a fiery statue, or suit of armor. He would sit in his tower, waiting for some foolish mortal to wander in, and then die. His tower would look like a dungeon, made up of ominous looking blocks. The Fortress Guardian would have 100 hp, 50 hearts.
Abilities: The Fortress Guardian would have four abilities.
1. Shooting fireballs, like the ghast, but at a much faster rate. He would shoot 10 of them before stopping for a few seconds, but get to close to hit him before the attack ends, and he might nearly kill you.
2. Flaming sword, he would run at you with his flaming sword, and strike down. If he hits you he might give you a burn effect, different from fire damage, and if you get near any fire or lava, you start taking damage, but it stops at 1/2 heart, like poison.
3. Magma army, summoning in 3 big magma cubes, he hides behind them, and heals up 20hp, 10 hearts, and after 10 seconds, gets back into the fray.
4. Pigman shield, summoning the pigman guards in the nearby area, he would use them as a shield, and trick you into hitting them, if you can survive the 15 second distraction, than the guards will go back to their duties.
After the Fight: After you beat the Fortress Guardian, he will sit back down on the throne, give you his special sword, and be extinguished and turned into a statue. If you bring this statue back to the overworld, and pour water on his statue's base, he will come back as your special guardian, and attack any mobs within a 50 block radius of where you revived him. However if you want to fight him again just pour lava on his statue's base, but if you do this anywhere but his home he will have twice the power, and wherever he walks, he will summon lava, so be warned.
Why We Need This: The Nether Fortress doesn't really have a use once you have you wither skulls, and get your blaze rods, but a new boss would definitely change that. Not only would it make the nether fortress more exciting, but I feel like there could easily be a lot of lore added to Minecraft with this one boss.
