This command is very similar to /kill or /setblock(air), the usage is "/remove (entity/block) <selector/x y z>".
When you use "/remove entity <selector(can't be players)>" and the target is non-mob, there is the same effect of /kill, but if the target is a mob, it will disappear directly instead of die and become smoke, just like the hostile mobs disappear in peaceful difficulty, the removed mob won't drop any items or experience orb, removed slime(not smallest) and magma cubes(not smallest) won't split
When you use "/remove block <x> <y> <z>>", the block will disappear directly usually, like "/setblock <x> <y> <z> air", but the difference is if you remove a container block(like chest, barrel, furnace, dispenser and etc), the items in this container won't drop out, they will be lost
