When a player dies a vex should spawn above where the death point was, the vex would be holding whatever the player had selected in their hotbar at the time. This would make vexes the spirits of players and add lore to the woodland mansion. It would also make death more risky because I die a lot and don’t think much of it. The vex is also an underused mob which I think is under appreciated. This feature can be toggled with the gamerule command or in settings. A vex will not be summoned if a player is killed by another player as to not ruin pvp.
