Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Just thinking, why not make this as a placement variation of a normal sign:

    - If the face you are placing on points North and you are facing South, it places like a normal sign. If you are facing East or West it places a hanging sign.

    - If you place a sign on the top face of a block it places a normal sign, if you place on the bottom face of a block it places a hanging sign (running e-w if you are facing n-s and visa versa)

I think the "stick" should be like a standard fence post stick (bark coloured) and the vertical hanging bits should be a loop of metal.

It would also be cool if you could punch the sign and it would swing (or if it was hit by arrows)

Re: an item sign - perhaps craft a sign, an item frame and any other block/item and be given an emblem: the 2D representation of the item, as big as a block that has the properties of a sign.

I would like to see hanging signs that could either hang from the ceiling or a post or something as I am building a tunnel system for my lighting but there are so many twists and turns that I have to leave "breadcrumbs" so I can find my way around. Could you please make this possible so I can place the signs better in a way that would be easier to see instead of having to put it on a weird angle?

I have literally spent the last hour trying to find a loop hole in order to make something like this. Please, developers! Let us have a hanging sign/item frame!

Yeah a sign placed on the underside of a block should do this but using the lantern chains and be able to swing like a bell if shot or walked into.

As for the fixed 90° sign, allowing fenceposts to be wall mounted like end rods would allow this ^ to be placed under and connect to it.

That way you get both every color of wood for the bar but also add a major decorating item.

Additionally I could then hang signs in front of moveable blocks explaining what they do without them popping off (wall mounted) or getting in the way (ground based) that the other variants currently do.

While I like this, I would much rather craft a regular sign, and then have two string on either side of it. I wouldn't want to be forced to use it on the side, I would like to be able to have it be in the middle of a tunnel for example.

A alternative to this could be that you should be able to put signs from the roof in the way they can sit on the floor.

A good start would probably be simply allowing signs to be placed on chains.

Maybe with chains instead of sticks?

So this has been added, and they're really cool and stylish, but there's a disparity in font size and character limit between editions.

This isn't an easy fix, as smaller text allows more information to be conveyed but also makes it harder to resolve that information at a distance.

I propose that these signs, since they are already more dynamic than traditional signs, would benefit from more dynamic text.

I suggest that the character limit is increased to 8, to match standard signs, but that the font size depends on the number of characters and lines used.

8 or fewer characters on any one line: bedrock font size
6 or fewer characters on any one line: java font size
4 or fewer characters on two or fewer lines: large font
2 or fewer characters on one line: extra large font

Additionally lines would be vertically justified, and spaces would count towards letter and line count.

This increases readability for small signs in a simple way that can be easily made consistent for newer players. It also allows for British-pub style single-letter signs (visible at great distance) or even hanging banners.

There is a possible issue of censoring banners, but it might be possible to detect the letters of adjacent signs when placing them if deemed necessary.

It'd be sweet with the Hanging Signs if you could write on both sides of the Hanging Signs.

Imagine you're making a Shopping District or a Town in an SMP. Every Shop/ Roadway has a Hanging Sign that indicates the correct direction to travel or the shop's name.

It's an Idea if Say I may a Sign showing Something like:

    Side 1:

    Villager Trading Hall

    >>>>>

    Side 2:

    Villager Trading Hall

    <<<<<

So no matter which direction you travel. The sign is viewable from both sides

This is AWESOME, I hope there will also be a hanging Item Frame, instead of words you can use items to serve as logos for your shops and etc.
