Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Chain Mail Armor Crafting Recipe

Chain mail armor has gone without a crafting recipe ever since its infamously impossible fire crafting recipe was removed. However, due to the semi-recent addition of iron nuggets, I believe chain mail should be crafted with the traditional armor recipes -- but using iron nuggets. This just makes sense, since chain mail armor is a thinner, weaker version of iron armor and iron nuggets are smaller versions of iron ingots -- the links in the armor! If you do this, however, you may want to nerf chain mail, as it would be easy to obtain for such quality protection.

EDIT: Alternating iron-nuggets/iron ingots would be well balanced and consistent with the new crafting recipe for chains. You should NOT be able to craft chain mail armor out of chains, because then it would be more expensive than iron armor, which is better.

    I think you can keep the chain mail’s attributes. But you need 8 iron nuggets in each spot to craft the armor. 

    This make sense since you’ll need hundreds and hundreds of metal pieces to craft it.

    Considering the durability and usefulness chain mail armour should get a proper survival crafting recipe of iron nuggets or what not

    I like how chain armour is special because it can't be made. If you can craft chain armour there is almost no unique loot left for dungeons. Besides that, why would anyone use chain armour. Diamond is the only useful armour in the game currently, we already have gold, and leather armour that never get used and iron is only useful to get you to diamond safely.

    I would go the other way. I would make chain armour useful because it can only be looted by making it super special.

    I would give chain armour a high chance to appear with unique enchantments like frost walker, aqua affinity, curse of vanishing, curse of binding, high level enchantments like fire protection 4 and perhaps add effects that already exist in the game but not on armour like: knockback resist, conduit power, dolphin's grace, invisibility, levitation, glowing, hero of the village, slow falling, speed, etc.

    Each piece of chain armour could have a unique name too depending on the enchant it has: 'Sir Digby's flame resistant shorts', 'The Feather Fall Shoes' etc.

    Finding chain would be fun and it would give chain a use in the game. Mobs wearing the chain would also have those effects.

    Oh no, the chain armour is supposed to be unique as in how it is not craftable. It is valuable adventurer's loot.

    chain armor shoudl be crafted with chain mail by crafting iron ingots with normal chain which will look lighter and be stronger then you be able to craft a chain mail armor, that's how it should work.

    Honestly, now that chains are in the newest snapshot, why not use them to craft chain armor?

    Since of The BEST snapshot in Minecraft history (just a joke) , 20w16a has introduced chains. Now I DO in fact realize this is when Village and Pillage was announced. But I Just want to say, chains for chainmail armor.

    This is a no-brainer. Chainmail armor has been the only armor uncraftable for years now, and now is a great time to change that. Also, they should change the crafting recipe for chain blocks to 3 iron nuggets instead of an ingot in the middle. If they didn't, it would make iron armor cheaper, and people would be more likely to craft that instead of chainmail. Chain armor should be for people who don't have enough iron but really need a set of armor. Hopefully this comes out in 20w17a! Edit: Dang, nevermind. Were gonna have to wait for the next snapshot now.

    Also, they should make chainmail look darker, so it would make more sense when you craft it.

    If y'all want something unique to find, then it should be something that makes more sense. Iron is one of the most common metals in real life. And it's what chains are made of. So it would make a lot of sense to make it craftable. I'm pretty sure the reason chainmail wasn't craftable in development was because there were some things in the game that were weird or didn't make sense. Take those four NPC's in the indev stage for example. (Beastboy, Steve, Black Steve, and Rena Although they were soon removed) they were a pretty weird edition and didn't really fit in.

    TheYodaloop, Monarch9521, GeneraIKonobi, then chain mail would be more expensive than iron, which offers better protection. I now think instead it should be crafted with alternating iron ingot/iron nuggets, exactly like the new chain block.

    I agree it should be craft-able, just because its currently a loot only item that doesn't make it special, better armor exists in the game, its not like a Totem of Undying where if it was craft-able, the game wouldn't be a challenge. However, chains are currently to expensive for this to be reasonable, with 1 iron ingot and 2 iron nuggets being needed for one chain, but if the amount of chains you get is increased even by 1, then there is no reason that this shouldn't be in the game.

    I think chain armor should be crafted by combining a piece of leather armor with a chain in a smithing table. This would accomplish three things:

    1. Provide a use for leather armor in regular gameplay.

    2. Provide an additional use for the smithing table.

    3. Make nether survival more fun.

    If it was made that you can craft it out of chains, it should also be made that the chain recipe produces multiple (probably 3) chains.

    It would have to be more iron nuggets than one per slot, that way you can't get a chestplate from one piece of ore
