I agree completely. Perhaps this would be something to implement if they get around to a mining/underground update.

The nice thing about this change is that it doesn't mess much with the early-mid game balance since it only really benefits mid-late game players when they start getting good fortune picks. This would also be helpful because it offers more potential for players who don't have the time or knowledge to build some of the complex gold or iron farms.

I think this is a great idea, though I still prefer crafting nuggets into ingots.

Zackeroni9 that is what I’m saying, is that if you mine iron or gold it drops ingots instead of just the ore block.

Make iron ore even more common, but not to the point that every other block you mine is iron ore.
Make iron and gold ore drop ingots, effected by fortune and silk-touch.

No. Iron and gold ore should not drop ingots upon mining them. Ingots are man-made IRL - it would make zero sense for them to be found when you mine up an ore block. Nuggets, on the other hand, are natural things you can find. Iron and gold should drop 1 to 5 nuggets per block, and 5 nuggets should be able to be smelted into an ingot. It makes much more sense and doesn’t disregard the furnace.
