I also want this feature for my nephews. I've been waiting for Realms to come to Xbone but the lack of this feature makes it unusable.

"This very bad as most of the servers are not appropriate for children and contain inappropriate language, behaviors, and could include predatory people."

Oh, it's not like there's a chat filter that's way too aggressive, or Mineplex deleted half the games on their network so they could focus on the Bedrock server, including reports, muting filter bypassers, etc.

Microsoft has DESTROYED multiplayer functionality in Bedrock. Before I was able to let my kids play on a local server I created on my LAN, while blocking them from accessing public servers.

Now, for some asinine reason, Microsoft thought it was a good idea to combine both.

This is beyond common sense. How THICK can one be?

This a bad idea to be honest..

Fun fact: there is a chat filter and real people moderate these servers to keep the content family-friendly.

Also, the "featured servers" are official servers that Mojang has allowed to be there and have special perks and etc.

This is word for word the feature request I wanted to write. A simple setting protected by a pin code to hide the Servers tab. If Mojang doesn’t want the responsibility of having parental control features within the game, then just have a setting to hide the tab even if it’s not protected by a code, that would be enough for now.

I bought a Nintendo Switch this Christmas with the sole purpose of playing Minecraft with my niece and nephew who have been fans of this game for a while. I live in a foreign country and have been missing them growing up so I thought this was a great opportunity to stay connected.

Never would have I imagined that the game most popular among children doesn’t get parental controls right.

I know that I can disable chatting with strangers on their accounts but you have to understand that some of us don’t want children to interact with strangers online at all. I just want them to be able to connect to realms with friends, so easily accessing the public servers is a definite No.

If someone at Microsoft or Mojang sees this. Please raise the priority of this issue. Difficulty is not high and it would have a huge impact.

    Thank you!

This remains an important flaw in Bedrock.

Yes, there are chat filters and yes, most servers are moderated appropriately.

Those who are satisfied with that level of protection will simply not use the feature we are suggesting.

But providing this added safeguard will boost subscriptions for Realms since the lack of it is one reason disappointed parents drop.

100% the whole point of the private Realm is to keep the kids in a contained environment with only approved (KNOWN TO ME) friends.  We need to be able to keep Realms but remove the Featured Servers its not safe

This is an absolutely needed feature. My six-year-old was exposed to racial slurs and depictions of genitalia on a "featured" sever. I want him to be able to play with his brothers, but do not want him, or his brothers for that matter, on public servers. I feel like this is a reasonable expectation. The "all-or-nothing" approach to multiplayer is absolutely insufficient.
